Police evacuated the Business Administration C building on the Tempe campus Wednesday afternoon after finding suspicious soda cans in a fourth-floor stairwell.
Police and bomb squad units responded when a student called ASU Police around 4:30 p.m. after finding two soda cans wrapped in duct tape in the stairwell, ASU Police Cmdr. Jim Hardina said.
Though the cans looked suspicious, Hardina said they are not believed to pose any threat to the building.
“It doesn’t look like an explosive device or anything, but we could see how it looks suspicious,” Hardina said.
Police evacuated the building and taped off the area “to be on the safe side,” he said, and expect it to reopen later tonight.
