Police Beat: Nov. 2


Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:

  • A 27-year-old Tempe man was arrested around 1 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of aggravated assault and unlawful discharge of a weapon, police reported.The man fired his 380 handgun into the carpet at his residence, according to a police report.

    He then pointed the handgun at his brother, police reported.

    The man was transported and booked into the Tempe City Jail, according to a police report.

  • A 34-year-old man was arrested at 3:55 a.m. Saturday on ASU’s Tempe campus on suspicion of unlawful use of transportation and theft of a credit card, police reported.He was arrested at Veterans Way and University Drive after driving through barricades onto a closed street, according to a police report.

    He had a distinct odor of alcohol; blood shot, watery eyes; a distinct sway and slow speech, police reported.

    The man was caught driving his roommate’s car without permission and had his roommate’s debit card in his wallet, according to a police report.

    He was cited and released on all of the misdemeanor charges, police reported.

  • A 20-year old man was arrested Saturday around 3:40 a.m. on suspicion of first-degree trespassing, a minor in consumption and a minor in possession, according to a police report.He was arrested and booked into the Tempe City Jail, police reported.
ASU Police reported the following incidents Monday:
  • An 18-year-old male student was assaulted by an unknown suspect around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, according to a police report.The man was hit in the face with a closed fist at the Hassayampa Courtyard on the Tempe campus, police reported.

    There are no suspects or leads at this time, and the man does not desire prosecution, according to a police report.

  • Between  6 a.m. and 6:20 a.m. Thursday, an unknown person damaged the front window of a facilities truck on the east side of Sonora Center on the Tempe campus, police reported.The total estimated damage is $250, according to a police report.
  • Between 4:55 p.m. and 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, an unknown person broke a window in a 40-year-old male student’s Jeep, according to a police report.A speaker box and speakers were stolen out of the vehicle while it was parked on Packard Drive on the Tempe campus, police reported.

    The estimated loss is $350, and there are no current suspects, leads or witnesses, according to a police report.
