A girl recently asked me, “How much do you like sports, Tyler?”

“A lot,” I replied.

“Well that could be a problem. I’m not really into them.”

“That’s funny, ‘cause I’m not really into shoe shopping.”

“Wait, so you don’t want to watch the Super Bowl with me Sunday?”

“Uh, absolutely not.”

OK, maybe I exaggerated the conversation a bit, but the gist of it is all there.

Ladies: Yes, all guys like sports. But that doesn’t mean they all want to watch them with you.

That’s what guy friends are for.

We want to relax, drink a few beers, eat some chips and not have to deal with the unnecessary stress that comes with watching a game with a non-sports fan.

“Why did they have to move back 10 footsteps?”

“Because the left tackle held onto the defensive end.”

“What’s a left tackle?”

Of course I realize there are exceptions to this rule, but please, unless you really know what you’re talking about, leave us men alone come Super Sunday.

We don’t bother you while Gossip Girl is on.
