ASU football has moved its opening game for the 2011 season against UC Davis from Saturday, Sept. 3 to Thursday, Sept. 1.

The game was originally scheduled to take place during Labor Day weekend but was moved to help increase the game’s attendance.

It was successful the last three times the game was moved, with each game drawing more than 50,000 fans.

The change gives the Sun Devils a few extra days to prepare for Missouri when the Tigers travel to Tempe on Sept. 10.
