The ASU women’s golf team dominated in Hawaii, winning two tournaments and two individual titles over spring break.

The team stole the show when they won the Donnis Thompson Invitational over UA by 15 strokes on Tuesday. The tournament also included the second win of the season by ASU junior Carlota Ciganda.

Ciganda was the only player who finished under par, and every single ASU competitor finished in the top 20.

“It was a very successful trip to Hawaii for sure,” ASU coach Melissa Luellen. “We were very excited about traveling there as we only travel there once every four years.”

Then on Wednesday, ASU won the Paradise Classic by 30 strokes over Columbia. Junior Giulia Molinaro tied for the individual title in a tournament where three of ASU’s players finished in the top four. Even Ciganda finished third while battling an illness that will keep her from competing in the next tournament, which is from March 20 to 22.

The tournament is the Battle at Rancho Bernardo and includes five of the top 10 teams in the nation. The No. 9 Sun Devils finished the first day in fourth place, four strokes back from the lead, and Molinaro sits in first place with a one-stroke lead.
