The buzz around ASU’s “It’s time” campaign is killing me.

The people involved with the movement have played the strings perfectly.

No spoilers, no leaks. Just suspense.

For an athletic department that has lacked a dynamic appeal for quite some time, the Sun Devils behind the scenes desperately needed to create some excitement.

Some might say it was “about time.”

But I say it’s the perfect time.

A football team most believe is on the brink of a multi-win turnaround is the perfect storm to bring in change within the entire department.

Come Sept. 9 under the Friday night lights, the entire country will get to see the new-look Sun Devils on national television taking on Missouri.

What a perfect stage for ASU to showcase itself as a program that’s willing to adapt to new generations instead of remaining stuck in the past.

In that sense, maybe not having the same tradition as conventional powerhouses isn’t such a bad thing.

ASU is trying to appeal to a new crop of young people. And if it works, the reward will be great.

Here’s hoping the Sun Devils come roaring out of the Pat Tillman tunnel in the fall rocking fresh black uniforms with a new logo slapped across their helmets.
