Downtown election results postponed

The Downtown student government postponed the release of election results Thursday to review election complaints received just before the announcement of winners.

Beth Wischnia, the government’s director of public relations, said the Downtown Elections Committee received the complaints about an hour before 5 p.m. — the time when results were to be posted on the government’s website.

Wischnia was not able to provide information regarding the nature of the complaints, but said a committee meeting was scheduled Thursday evening to review them.

“We’re working as quickly as possible to resolve this issue,” Wischnia said.

The outcome of the committee’s review will be announced no later than 5 p.m. Friday on the government’s website and social media sites.

Wischnia said this announcement does not necessarily mean that election results will be announced.
