NOW THAT’S CLUTCH, MAN
(In response to Will Munsil’s April 26 column, “Puncturing the Kobe myth.”)
I think it’s funny that you have to bring up statistics in the first place to show that Kobe is not a clutch player. I think that just shows you how clutch he is really known to be.
Last year alone, he made a deep three-point shot with two guys on him against the Miami Heat at the buzzer to win by one.
He made a mid-range jumper with a man in his face in overtime to win by one at the buzzer against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Bryant made a deep three in the corner where the ball left his hands with 0.1 seconds left to win by one at the buzzer against the Sacramento Kings.
Not to mention some of the other clutch shots he had against the Memphis Bobcats and the Boston Celtics, specifically against Ray Allen.
In those games, they went on to win the game. Give me anyone in your statistics that made just as many “clutch” and “game-winning” shots in one year.
