Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:
- A 27-year-old transient man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and false reporting on the 1200 block of East Apache Boulevard in Tempe at approximately 7 a.m. Monday, according to a police report.
An investigation revealed that at 6:52 a.m. the man had concealed a pack of coffee cakes valued at $1.67 in his front pants pocket and left a store at that location without paying, police reported.
Police located the man at Apache Boulevard and Terrace Road after he was kicked off an Orbit bus, according to the report.
When officers asked for the man’s information, he gave a false name and date of birth, according to the report.
Officers asked the man to sit down, and he refused and then took off running, jumping over a wall into an apartment complex, police reported.
Police located the man and he admitted that he lied about his personal information but denied stealing the coffee cakes, according to the report.
The man was captured on video stealing the cakes and a background check revealed he had four outstanding warrants, police reported.
He was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held, according to the report.
- A 27-year-old Phoenix man was arrested on suspicion of forgery at the 3000 block of South 48th Street in Tempe at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to a police report.
Police contacted the man at a McDonald’s that he worked at in order to serve him with an order of protection, police reported.
Officers were made aware that he went by a different name at work, and when they asked why, he admitted that he used a false name and date of birth to get employment, according to the report.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held, police reported.
- A 20-year-old Phoenix man was arrested on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs, drug paraphernalia and marijuana at the 1500 block of North McClintock Drive in Tempe at approximately 10:50 p.m. April 9, according to a police report.
The man was detained by security at Big Surf when they were made aware he was selling drugs, police reported.
Security contacted the police and it was discovered that he had multiple baggies that contained paper tabs laced with acid, a baggie of marijuana and $780, according to the report.
The man denied selling the drugs and said that it was all for him and he had no explanation for why he had so much money on him, police reported.
A search of his car revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and he was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released, according to the report.
