Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:
- A 31-year-old Tempe man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault on an officer at the 2000 block of East Apache Boulevard in Tempe at approximately 6:40 p.m. March 22, according to a police report.Officers were dispatched to Western Lodge hotel after receiving a call from management about unwanted guests, police reported.
The manager told police that three occupants of a room were intoxicated and were causing a disturbance, according to the report.
The manger asked the guests to leave and they refused, police reported.
When officers arrived at the room, the suspect answered the door and officers asked him to leave, according to the report.
The man refused and became aggressive, flexing his hands into fists and saying that he had a gun, police reported.
The man proceeded to step out of the room, repeating that he had a gun while patting his right side waist area, and asked the officer how fast he could draw a gun, according to the report.
The man began to walk toward the officer and refused commands to stay back, causing the officer to hold up his hand toward the man, police reported.
The man walked close enough so the officer’s hand was on his chest and then swung at the officer’s arm, according to the report.
The man was then placed in handcuffs and post-Miranda admitted to drinking two fifths of vodka, saying that he was very drunk and had poor judgment, police reported.
He claimed that he hit the officer because he didn’t like people touching him because he had previously been molested by his brother, according to the report.
He said he was sorry about what he had done and was booked and held in Tempe City Jail, police reported.
- An unknown person or persons committed theft at Hayden Library on ASU’s Tempe campus between approximately 4:58 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, according to a police report.The person or persons stole a laptop from the southwest study area on the main level of the building, police reported.
The total estimated loss is $1200, according to the report.
