Incoming freshman Jahii Carson has been named to the U.S. roster for the U19 World Championships.

Carson was one of 12 players selected from around the country. The U.S. won the tournament in 2009 and is looking to defend their title.

Carson played high school basketball at Mesa High and signed with the Sun Devils in November. He is the only incoming freshman on the U.S. squad.

The U19 tournament gets underway for the U.S. on June 30 against Egypt. The Americans will also have to face China and Serbia in the first group stage.

In 2009 the U.S. defeated Greece in the title game, 88-80 after the Greeks made a furious second-half comeback to make the game interesting. Croatia finished third in the tournament.

The last Sun Devil to play for the U.S. U19 world championship team was Jamal Faulkner in 1991. 1991 was also the last time the U.S. had won the title until two years ago.
