Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:
- A 40-year-old Mesa woman was arrested on May 30 on suspicion of shoplifting on the 800 block of East Southern Avenue, police reported.The woman was contacted at a Wal-Mart where she attempted to walk out of the building without paying for the tool carrier in her hands, according to a police report.
She then gave the police a fake name and a driver’s license that belonged to another woman in California, police reported.
The woman later admitted that she was not the person on the driver’s license but then gave another fake name, date of birth and social security number, according to a report.
Her driver’s license was found in her purse after a police search, police reported.
Wal-Mart Loss Prevention found that the woman was not allowed on the property after a previous trespassing warning, according to a report.
She was transported to Tempe City Jail on one count of taking another person’s identity, two counts of theft, one count of giving false information to law enforcement, one count of second degree trespassing and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported.
- A 21-year-old transient man was arrested on the night of May 29 on the 2000 block of East Howe Avenue after an investigation found the man entered into a residence without permission, police reported.One of the residents came home to find the man walking out of the bedroom with “The Unborn” DVD in his hands, according to a police report.
The resident screamed for her son’s help and the son dragged the man out of the residence, police reported.
The transient man said that he did not know anyone living at the residence and he was transported to Tempe City Jail on one count of second-degree burglary, according to a report.
- On May 28 a 27-year-old Scottsdale man and a 26-year-old Mesa man were arrested early in the morning on the corner of South Mill Avenue and West 3rd Street after the two men were seen by police removing property from one vehicle and placing it in another, police reported.An investigation found that the men entered through the unlocked passenger side door and removed several items, including purses, clothing and cash, according to a police report.
The Scottsdale man said that he needed to get a shirt out of the vehicle but he could not provide the vehicle owner’s name, police reported.
The Mesa man later admitted to removing the items from the vehicle and that he did not know the owner, according to a report.
The victims reported to the scene and said that they did not know the two men and that all of the property was returned, police reported.
Both men were booked and held to see a judge, according to a report.
