Former Sun Devil Dymond Simon is taking her talents a little further south.

The point guard has officially signed with the West Coast Waves, based out of Perth, Australia. The Waves are one of 10 teams in the Women’s National Basketball League.

The team finished in the bottom half of the league last season with an 8-14 record, but is making a concentrated effort to rebuild after several lackluster seasons.

Simon is a major part of those plans.

The decision to head overseas was made after Simon missed out on being drafted into the WNBA. She also had the opportunity to play in Poland, but ultimately decided on the Waves.

Simon will not be the only former Sun Devil playing in Australia. Forward Amy Denson also plays in both the WNBL and the South East Australian Basketball League, while Jill Noe and Gabby Fage both play in the SEABL.

Simon is the second Sun Devil preparing to start her professional career overseas. Earlier this summer Becca Tobin decided to begin her time as a pro in Italy, starting in December.
