Tempe Police reported the following incidents on Monday:
- A 20-year-old Tempe man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of breaking into an apartment on the 1900 block of East University Drive and stealing a laptop from the residence, according to a police report.
While talking to the officer, the woman living in the residence spotted a gold Chevrolet Impala drive by the residence and identified the man driving as the person who burglarized her apartment, according to the report.
The vehicle was stopped at Rural Road and Sixth Street, and when an officer walked up to the vehicle, the officer noticed a silver laptop with a purple cover, Volcom sticker and “Reckless” sticker in the backseat, according to the report.
After his arrest, the man admitted to entering the apartment without permission and taking the laptop, according to the report.
The man said he initially threw the laptop out of the vehicle near the apartment complex but returned to pick it up after he realized he could use it for school, according to the report.
The suspect was arrested and booked in the Tempe City Jail, police reported.
- An 18-year-old Tempe man was arrested Friday on suspicion of marijuana possession and holding an outstanding warrant, according to a police report.
An officer noticed the man riding a green BMX bike against traffic and without a bike light eastbound on Lemon Street near the 1100 block, police reported.
The officer ran a background check on the man after stopping him, according to the report.
The check revealed a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office felony warrant for trespassing, and while waiting for confirmation of the warrant, the officer noticed a 2 inch-by-2 inch square in the suspect’s left sock, police reported.
When the warrant was confirmed, the officer arrested the man, searched him, and found a small zip close bag with Superman logos in his left sock, which contained marijuana, according to the report.
While the officer inspected the substance the man said, “It’s some bud,” police reported.
The man was booked and released pending marijuana possession charges, according to the report.
