“Own the Night,” the third record from country trio Lady Antebellum, is poised to possess more than just the night. The album will likely own airwaves and the number one spot on Billboard Country charts for a few weeks, at the very least. The album’s lead single, “Just a Kiss,” reached number one on the Billboard Country Singles Chart in August and has also earned Platinum certification. “Seeing country radio and the fans embrace the first single off of our new album like this has been amazing,” said band member Charles Kelley on the band’s website. “It just makes us even more excited for Sept. 13 to get here.” It has been just over a year and a half since Lady Antebellum released their critically acclaimed sophomore album, “Need You Now,” which garnered five Grammy awards and sold in excess of five million copies worldwide. The success of “Need You Now” introduced country music fans to the perfect harmonies and raw emotional deliveries that have since made the trio famous. With the release of “Own the Night,” Lady Antebellum proves that they have only gotten better with age. The 12 tracks on the record offer relatable emotions and vocals that are both sweet and powerful. The album focuses on specific moments in time, such as “Dancin’ Away With My Heart,” which tells the story of the moment two lovers met as young people. Hillary Scott takes the lead on the song “As You Turn Away” to describe the exact moment that a heart breaks when a relationship ends. The impeccable blend of Scott and Kelley’s voices is what makes Lady Antebellum and their albums so special. “We’re definitely more in tune with each other musically and personally than ever,” said band member Dave Haywood in an interview with theboot.com. “With ‘Own the Night,’ more than ever before, we share a real feeling of accomplishment both as a band and as friends.” The group collaborated once again with veteran producer Paul Worley to create the haunting ballads and romantic feel of the record. According to theboot.com, the trio either wrote or co-wrote all 12 tracks on the album. “Our only hope and expectation for this record is that it will build on the first two,” said Kelley. “At the end of the day, we just want our fans to be able to say that we continue to give them solid albums with solid songs they can enjoy from start to finish.” The Own the Night Tour kicks off Nov. 11 in Tennessee. The band is touring with Josh Kelley, Eden’s Edge and Randy Montana. The tour stops in Phoenix on Nov. 17 at Grand Canyon University Arena.
