Police Beat: Sept. 12


ASU Police reported to the following incidents on Monday:

 

  • An unknown person or persons broke into the vehicle of a 20-year-old female student at the 10th Street parking structure Thursday on the Tempe campus, according to a police report.ASU Police responded to the woman’s call and upon arrival the officer noticed no immediate damage to the vehicle’s exterior, police reported.The woman told the officer she had left her vehicle at the parking structure the Wednesday before and that all items were still in the vehicle, according to the report.

    The woman reported that her black Blaupunkt CD player face plate, ASU parking pass and ASU parking garage magnet was stolen, according to the report. The total estimated loss of the stolen property is $150, police reported.

    The officer looked inside of the vehicle and noticed the CD player faceplate was missing but the player unit wasn’t damaged, according to the report.

    The officer searched around the vehicle and noticed smudges and hand print marks on the plastic windows on the back of the vehicle, which is appeared to be the suspect’s point of entry, police reported.

    The officer asked the woman if she knew anyone that would want to rob her and she said “No,” police reported. She then agreed to aid in prosecution, according to the report.

    The officer pulled the fingerprints from the plastic window and submitted a request to the AZ DPS Crime Lab and is waiting for a match of the prints to come, according to the report.

  • ASU Police responded to a call of criminal damage to a vending machine at the 500 block of East Tyler Mall on Thursday afternoon, according to a police report.A Canteen Vending representative contacted ASU Police after an employee of the vending company noticed an explicit note scratched onto the display window, police reported.The vending machine was a Crane 449, which dispenses candy, according to the report. The damaged vending machine is located near the Bateman Physical Sciences “F” Wing, police reported.

    An officer arrived at the machine and noticed the words “f--- your 25 cent vp” on the window, without other immediate damage, police reported.

    The damage of the vending machine was inspected by the Canteen Vending company but the estimated damage is unknown at this time, according to the police report.
