Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday.
- A 49-year-old Tempe man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia at the 1800 block of East Apache Boulevard, according to a police report.A Tempe Police officer noticed the man riding his bicycle on Apache Boulevard and recognized the man from previous encounters, police reported.
The officer put out the man’s description to other officers after a warrants check revealed an outstanding warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the report.
The man was later detained, police reported.
As he sat on the ground, the man began to reach in his waistband and an officer started to walk toward the man noticing the odd behavior, according to the report.
While approaching the man, the officer heard glass break and began to search near the man, finding a 4-inch glass pipe with a white crystal-like residue in the stem, police reported.
When searching the man, the officer found a small plastic zip-close bag containing methamphetamines stuck to the man’s inner forearm, police reported.
The man admitted to attempting to empty the drugs and paraphernalia from his person to not get caught as well as admitting addiction to the drug, according to the report.
The man was arrested and transported to Tempe City Jail but was released pending drug possession charges.
- A 21-year-old Tucson man was arrested at the 2000 block of West Ikea Way on suspicion of forgery of a credit card, fraud schemes, artifices and false information on Friday, according to a police report.The man was caught at Ikea attempting to purchase $2,000 worth of items with two fraudulent credit cards, police reported.
Tempe Police arrived at Ikea and the man identified himself and provided a Mexico identification card, which proved to be false as well, according to the report.
Police verified that the credit cards were fraudulent and not registered to the man, police reported.
The man was arrested and booked to the Tempe City Jail, according to the report.
The report did not explain how police positively identified the man.
