Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:
- A 51-year-old Mesa man was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of trespassing on railroad tracks at the 300 block of West Lake View Drive, according to a police report.A Tempe police officer saw the man on the tracks and told him he was not allowed to be there, police reported.
The man said he was unaware of the “No Trespassing” signs, according to the report.
The officer arrested the man but the man complained of having chest pains so the officer took him to Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital, police reported.
The man later left the hospital against medical advisory and the officer was notified through Tempe Police Dispatch, according to the report.
The officer searched for the man, found him on Bonita Road and Mill Avenue and arrested the man for a second time but the man complained again of chest pains so the officer took the man to Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital for another evaluation, according to the report.
The man was later released, transported and transported to Tempe City Jail, police reported.
- A 24-year-old Avondale man was arrested Sunday at Broadway and Dorsey roads for assaulting a police officer, according to a police report.A Tempe Police officer was dispatched to a bus stop at the intersection because a fight involving two men and a knife had taken place inside a bus, according to the report.
When the officer arrived, one man involved in the fight was still there, and the officer asked the bus driver to point out the other man in the fight, and he pointed to a man walking around the area, police reported.
The officer confronted the man, frisked him and asked the man to sit on the curb during the investigation, but he refused to comply with the officer and began to walk away into a nearby parking lot, police reported.
The officer grabbed the man’s left arm to keep him from running away and escorted him to a seated position, according to the report.
The man, however, sat in a squatting position, which could make it easier for him to flee again, police reported.
The officer eventually detained the man in handcuffs and told to him sit all the way down, legs crossed, but the man still refused, police reported.
Attempting to force the man to sit down, the officer tried to move the man’s left foot with his own left foot but the man kicked the officer’s left ankle intentionally, according to the report.
The officer placed the man under arrest for assault, transported him to Tempe City Jail where he was held to see a judge, police reported.
