Police beat: Sept. 21


Tempe Police reported the following incident Tuesday:

  • A 24-year-old Casa Grande man was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession Monday on the 1700 block of Priest Drive, according to a police report. An officer came to the man’s house in reference to a recent driving under the influence incident involving the man’s girlfriend, according to the report. When the officer entered the man’s home, he recognized the smell of marijuana and asked the man if he or his girlfriend had a medical marijuana card, according to the report. The man said “no,” police reported. The officer enquired if the man had any marijuana in the room and the man surrendered a plastic zip-close bag with a quarter-sized substance the officer recognized as marijuana, police reported. The man was booked and released on pending charges, police reported.
ASU Police reported the following incident Tuesday:
  • A 19-year-old woman and 18-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and underage drinking, respectively, on Williams Field Road near the Polytechnic campus, according to the police report. Police located a black and green “bong” under the driver’s seat and a clear glass “bowl” in the vehicle’s ashtray, according to the report. Police became aware the man was intoxicated when the man opened the rear door of the vehicle and vomited twice before the officer could begin his search, police reported. The woman and man were arrested, cited and released, according to the report.
