Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:
- A 21-year-old Tempe man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of aggravated assault with a knife, threatening and intimidating assault, apprehension and two counts of disorderly conduct at the 400 block of South Mill Avenue, according to a police report.
The man was denied entrance to Vintage Lounge & Grill on Mill avenue for not complying with the bar’s dress code and was escorted off the property, police reported.
Tempe Police arrived and told the man he would be cited for disorderly conduct and trespassing if he didn’t leave, according to the report. The man later returned to Vintage and threatened to “kill” a uniformed security officer, according to the report.
The man was standing near Vintage employees when he pulled out a folding knife and attempted to stab the security officer in the back but a Vintage employee successfully knocked the knife out of the man’s hand before he was able to strike and the man was detained until police arrived, police reported.
Vintage owner Jay Johari told police many patrons attempting to get into the bar left as a result of the man’s alleged actions, according to the report.
The man was booked into Tempe City Jail and held to see a judge, police reported.
- A 21-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Sunday at the 700 block of Alameda Drive on suspicion of burglary and trespassing of an occupied residence, burglary of a vehicle and criminal damage, according to a police report.
A first set of victims had a run-in with the man at their residence at the 2500 block of South Palm Drive, police reported.
The man was able to grab three cell phones before being caught and ran out the back door, according to the report.
The second set of victims also noticed their house being broken into at the 700 block of East Alameda Drive where they immediately escorted the man out of the house, police reported.
The man then threw a rock at the victims’ home, creating a hole in the stucco, according to the report.
After the man left, he broke into a third victim’s orange 2007 Chevy Cobalt and put a knife and a pair of sunglasses from the car into his pockets, police reported. While in the vehicle, Tempe Police arrived after being contacted by victims in the neighborhood and they all positively identified the man allegedly stealing their belongings, according to the report.
The police searched the man and found the three cell phones from the first house. Also, the man appeared to be extremely intoxicated and told police he was at a party at the Gateway apartments, at the 1600 block of East University Drive, earlier in the night and that he needed a cell phone to call his mother for a ride home, police reported.
The man was transported and booked into Tempe City Jail where he was held to see a judge, according to the report.
