Tempe Police reported the following incidents on Thursday:
- A 19-year-old Tempe man was arrested on the 900 block of University Drive Wednesday on suspicion of possession of marijuana, police reported.
Officers noticed a man attempting to avoid being seen from the street and when the officers approached, the man ran, according to the police report.
There was a strong odor of burnt marijuana where the man was standing and officers noticed the man throw a “joint” into a nearby parking lot, according to the report.
After the man was detained he admitted to smoking marijuana and throwing a “joint” into the parking lot, according to the police report.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked and released on pending charges, according to the report.
- A 45-year-old Tempe woman was arrested on the 2100 block of Apache Boulevard Tuesday on suspicion of drug possession, police reported.
The woman, who was driving, was stopped because her Arizona temporary registration license plate was unreadable, according to the report.
The woman admitted to using methamphetamines and marijuana in the past and consented to a search of her vehicle, police reported.
The officer found a plastic zip close bag containing nine green tablets that were identified as Alprazolum, a generic form of Xanax, police reported.
The woman denied the pills were hers and stated they belonged to her ex-husband, according to the report.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail where she was booked and released on pending charges, police reported.
