Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:
- A 26-year-old Mesa man was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the 2100 block of East University Drive, according to a police report.A Tempe Police officer saw the man drive and park in a lot south of a Jack in the Box, according to the report.
The man was in a gold 2011 Ford Fiesta and was observed lighting what appeared to be a cigarette, which was later found to be a marijuana joint, police reported.
When the officer approached the man sitting in the vehicle, he could smell the odor of marijuana and began to question the man, according to the report.
The man admitted to owning a pipe, which he kept in his glove box and had stopped to smoke before attending a music concert, according to the report.
The man also admitted the marijuana joint was his as well as the rest of the marijuana located in the side of the door, worth approximately $5, police reported.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, booked and was released pending charges, according to the report.
- A 32-year-old Mesa woman was arrested Thursday at the 2000 block of East Apache Boulevard on suspicion of possessing prescription only drugs, dangerous drugs, narcotic drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.The woman was a passenger of a vehicle that was stopped by a Tempe Police officer for making an illegal U-turn at the intersection of South Price road and East Apache boulevard, police reported.
The officer was given consent by the woman to search her purse but when the officer was handed the purse the woman also stated “there’s something else in there,” according to the report.
The officer then found two capped syringes, one of them containing a white powdery residue, and a Tic Tac mints box stuffed with a plastic baggie, which contained a usable quantity of methamphetamines, two Hydroxyzine pills and 10 Percocet pills, according to the report.
The woman was detained after she attempted to reach into her bra, police reported.
The officer asked what else she had so the woman reluctantly pulled out another Tic Tac mints box that contained two brown plastic baggies with more methamphetamines, according to the report.
The woman admitted to using methamphetamines daily and then was booked into Tempe City Jail but released pending the drug charges, police reported.
