Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
- An 18-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession after police found a useable amount of marijuana under the driver’s side floor mat during a traffic stop, according to a Tempe police report.
The woman’s car was pulled over near Mill Avenue and Broadway Road for a missing license plate light, according to the report.
When a Tempe police officer approached the car, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside of the car, police reported.
Upon a search of the car, a useable amount of marijuana and a glass pipe were found under the floor mat, according to the report.
The woman told police she was driving people home from a party when her friend asked her to hold on to the marijuana and pipe for “safe keeping,” police reported.
The woman was booked into Tempe City Jail and released pending charges, according to the report.
- A transient man was arrested at a Circle K near Broadway Road and Priest Drive Tuesday morning on suspicion of third-degree burglary and threatening a store clerk, according to a police report.
The man jumped over the Circle K counter and attempted to steal a pack of cigarettes, according to the report.
The man grabbed a pack of Marlboro cigarettes and as he was jumping back over, Tempe police arrived and detained him, police reported.
Prior to jumping over the counter, the man also told the store clerk he had a rifle outside and would shoot the clerk if he called the police, according to the report.
The man was booked into Tempe City Jail and is being held, according to the report.
