Tempe Police reported the following incidents Thursday:
- A Guadalupe man was arrested Monday night on suspicion of drug possession and driving under the influence after a police officer conducting a traffic stop found cocaine in the center console of the man’s car and marijuana inside a lunch box in the backseat, according to a police report.
The driver was seen making wide turns, drifting into other lanes and speeding at around 11:30 p.m. when the police officer pulled him over near Mill Avenue and Broadway Road, according to the report.
When the officer approached the driver, he could smell a distinct odor of alcohol and following a sobriety test, the man was placed under arrest, police reported.
Upon a search of the car, the officer found a black circular case containing cocaine residue in the center console and a small vial in the pocket behind the driver’s seat containing a white powder substance identified as more cocaine, according to the report.
A large red and white lunchbox was found in the backseat containing three small pipes and a leather case containing another pipe, a lighter and some marijuana, according to the report.
The man admitted to possessing all of the items and was booked and released from Tempe City Jail pending the charges, police reported.
- A 56-year-old Mesa man was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of possessing dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia after his vehicle was pulled over for a broken taillight cover and missing license plate light, according to a police report.
When he was pulled over at around 12:20 a.m. near University Drive and Lola Lane, the man admitted to being a methamphetamine user and to having a marijuana pipe in his car that he had recently used, according to the report.
Upon a search of the car, a marijuana pipe was found in the map pocket of the driver’s side seat and two methamphetamine pipes were found inside a backpack in the car, according to the report.
A useable amount of methamphetamine was also found inside the man’s front jean pocket, police reported.
The man admitted the methamphetamine in his pocket was his and said he was planning to smoke it after he got home and took a shower, according to the report.
The man was booked and released from Tempe City Jail pending the charges, police reported.
