FAIR TAXATION
“No Taxation Without Representation.” It was one of the rallying cries that started off the American Revolution. The American colonists did not like that they were being taxed without any say in government of the British Empire.
Who wants to be taxed but given no vote? It's a concept that many do not thoroughly understand. I propose the converse: “No Representation Without Taxation.”
Across America, protesters have been decrying that big corporations have extra influence in the government via lobbying and get special benefits.
Well, the wealthy also get heavily taxed already, more than anyone else, and simply because they were more fortunate, smarter, or more hardworking. (Before you bring up Warren Buffet or anyone who’s dishonest, I'm talking about all the wealthy, not one or two exceptions).
Wouldn’t it be fair that they have more of an influence than you and I who pay taxes microscopic in proportion to what the wealthy pay?
Now, I am for getting rid of lobbyists, but if we are to have an equal say in matters we should have equal shares of the country's burden.
I propose we get rid of lobbyists, but install a flat tax system (everyone pays 8 percent, 9 percent, 10 percent, whatever). Or we keep what we already have. How is this not fair?
No representation with out taxation!
