Police Beat: Oct. 27


Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

  • A 22-year-old Tempe man was arrested Saturday at the 300 block of East 15th Street on suspicion of first degree trespassing, criminal damage and disorderly conduct, according to a police report.The man went to a woman’s home where he woke her up by pounding on her bedroom window, police reported.

    The man started to yell, broke the window and attempted to enter the residence head first, according to the report.

    The woman began to fight the man off with a vacuum cleaner handle until Tempe Police could arrive, police reported.

    When police got to the residence the man was bleeding and lying on the ground outside of the bedroom window where police also found blood inside the bedroom window, according to the report.

    Estimated damage to the window was about $500, police reported. The man was detained and placed under arrest, according to the report.

  •  A 19-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Thursday in the parking lot of Meyer Elementary School on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.Tempe Police arrived at the school after they received a call of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot after school hours, police reported.

    An officer approached the vehicle and began speaking to the woman when the officer noticed an odor of marijuana coming form the vehicle, according to the report.

    The officer asked her about the smell but the woman said she didn’t know anything about it, police reported.

    The officer pointed out a small piece of burnt marijuana on the edge of the vehicle door and afterward the woman admitted to smoking the drug in her car, according to the report.

    The woman told the officer that a pipe and a blue bag containing marijuana were next to her seat, police reported.

    The woman was detained and transported to Tempe City Jail for booking, police reported.
