Police Beat: Oct. 31


Tempe Police reported the following incidents on Friday:

 

  • A 20-year-old Chandler man was arrested on suspicion of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession at the 200 block of West Fifth Street Thursday night, according to a police report.The man stood outside of his car drinking from a QuikTrip cup when a Tempe Police officer approached the man to investigate the contents of the cup, which was later revealed to be soda mixed with Absolut vodka, police reported.During questioning, the officer noticed the man had bloodshot eyes, according to the report. After the officer asked the man if he had any marijuana, the man admitted to keeping the drug in his car, police reported.

    The man handed over a small bag containing marijuana as well as two packages of rolling papers and told the officer he purchased the drug from a Hispanic man for $10 earlier in the week, according to the report.

    The man was booked into Tempe City Jail and released pending drug charges, police reported.

  • A 32-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Thursday at South Priest Drive and West Laird Street on suspicion of dangerous drug possession and for an outstanding Mesa city warrant, according to a police report.The man failed to make a complete stop while exiting from a Motel 6 parking lot at the 1700 block of South Priest Drive when Tempe Police ran a records check of the man’s license plate, which revealed an outstanding Mesa city warrant, police reported.Police pulled the man over at Priest Drive and Laird Street to arrest the man and transport him to the Mesa Police Department, according to the report.

    When Mesa Police conducted a search of the man’s person they discovered a plastic bag containing methamphetamines in his black ankle sock.

    The man was transported to Tempe City Jail for booking and was released pending drug charges but was held on the Mesa city warrant, according to the report.
