Bye weeks benefit players in different ways.

For some, it’s a chance to take a break from the grind of a long season while others use it as an opportunity to heal and recuperate from injuries.

The ASU football team’s bye week came at the perfect time for Gerell Robinson. The senior wide receiver used last week to recover from nagging injuries.

“To be honest with you, I have been blessed to make it through,” Robinson said. “There hasn’t been a game where I’m really legitimately feeling healthy going into the game. This is my first game all year doing that. So I’m very anxious to see what happens this Saturday as far as my production and our team production as well.”

Robinson has been one of ASU’s leading receivers all season long. He’s caught 32 passes for 523 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 74.7 yards per game.

Now that he’s feeling the healthiest he has all season, Robinson believes the best is yet to come for him this year.

“I definitely think so, for this ball club as well,” Robinson said. “We dropped two games that we know we shouldn’t have dropped. The good part about it is we didn’t get beat. We beat ourselves. We’re learning from the “L’s” as opposed to the past we wouldn’t learn from them.”

The Sun Devils begin their final five game stretch Saturday afternoon against visiting Colorado. After a strong five win start, Robinson is confident in where his team stands.

“Everybody knows our first few games were our hardest in our schedule,” Robinson said. “It’s up to us. We’re in the drivers seat, and it’s up to us to control it. As long as we do what we’re supposed to do, I’m not worried about any other team.”
