Sophomore Jacqueline Cako is ready to play at the All-American Championships this weekend in Los Angeles, Calif.

This is Cako’s first appearance in the prestigious tournament, and she is looking forward to the experience.

“I’m really excited to go,” Cako said. “It’s a really small draw.”

The tournament is based on preseason rankings and draws the Top 25 female college tennis players in the country. Cako prequalified for the tournament.

Assistant coach Clint Letcher will accompany Cako to the tournament and says it will be a good experience for her.

“She’ll get to play top girls in college tennis,” Letcher said. “She’s excited, we’re excited.”

Cako could have a chance at redemption at this tournament.

She played junior Allie Will of Florida in the past and lost, despite having chances to win in the match.

Ranked at No. 2 in the tournament, Will is a formidable opponent.

“I’d love to play her again,” Cako said, smiling.

The tournament will be hosted at the Riviera Country Club, a change of scenery for Letcher and Cako.

“It’s a unique tournament,” Letcher said.

Most tournaments are held at universities, so this one will have a more luxurious feel.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Cako said. “I’ve heard it’s a great experience.”
