Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

  • A 27-year-old Tempe man was arrested Sunday at the 900 block of East Southern Avenue on suspicion of narcotic drug possession and for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, according to a police report.Tempe Police found the man at his apartment on Southern Avenue after an investigation revealed his misdemeanor warrant, police reported.

During a search of the man’s person following arrest, police found a Camel Crush cigarette box in the man’s jacket pocket, which contained a usable quantity of methamphetamines, according to the report.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail for booking and was held to see a judge, but was released pending drug charges, police reported.

  • A 26-year-old Mesa man was arrested Sunday at the 400 block of West Sixth Street on suspicion of disorderly conduct and reckless discharge of a firearm, according to a police report. When Tempe Police arrived at the home after they were alerted of gunshots being fired, the man admitted to firing six rounds into the ground in the backyard from his SIG Sauer handgun because he was “drunk and stupid,” police reported.

The man’s friend and the resident of the home corroborated the man’s story, police reported. Police also confirmed through shell casings found in the backyard next to bullet holes in the ground, according to the report.

The man was booked into Tempe City Jail and was held to see a judge, police reported.

  • A 29-year-old Tempe man was arrested Saturday at East University and South McClintock drives on suspicion of aggravated driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license, according to a police report.A Tempe Police officer observed the man driving a silver 2003 Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck, drifting from left to right in the right lane and into the bicycle lane while headed east on University Drive, police reported.

After the officer pulled the man over into a parking lot at the corner of University and McClintock drives, he approached the vehicle and saw four total occupants and smelled an odor of alcohol, according to the report.

The officer asked the man who was driving the vehicle if he had anything to drink earlier, which the man replied “no” with a slurred speech, police reported. The officer noted the man had bloodshot and watery eyes, so the officer asked the man to step out of the vehicle, police reported.

While attempting to exit the vehicle, the man needed the door to steady himself, according to the report. The officer then asked the man to walk to the back of the vehicle and noticed the man had difficulty balancing himself, and when he stopped walking, he could not stand with his feet together, even after the officer instructed him to, according to the report.

The man told the officer he would not comply with any field or breath tests, so the officer placed the man under arrest and it was revealed through a background check that he had a suspended license and an outstanding Chandler Police warrant for a separate DUI, police reported.

The man was arrested, transported and booked into Tempe City Jail for further investigation but upon arrival the man refused to get out of the squad car and walk into the jail on his own, according to the report.

At a later time inside the jail, the man also refused to take a breath test so a warrant was obtained to take blood samples from the man to analyze his alcohol content, police reported.
