Shot fired on West campus

Police say a male suspect fired a single shot near a group of people playing volleyball at a West campus dorm Thursday evening.

ASU Police Cmdr. Jim Hardina said at about 10:15 p.m., a car pulled up near the group of people on a court next to the Las Casas Residence Hall.

Two male suspects — one carrying an air soft rifle and another carrying a gun — exited the vehicle, Hardina said. The person with the gun fired a single shot before they both jumped back in the car and drove off.

Six witnesses saw the incident, and no was injured, he said.

ASU, Glendale and Phoenix police are working together to find the suspects.

According to a text alert sent out by the University shortly after the incident, the suspects were driving a red Chevy Aveo. The car was last seen in the area of 49th Avenue and Thunderbird Road. The text alert included only three letters from the car's license plate: ABZ
