The assault of three men by two gunmen Wednesday afternoon at Hayden Lane Apartments may be drug-related, according to a Tempe Police press release Thursday.
One man, 22-year-old Allen Philip Cropper, was rushed to a nearby hospital after being shot in the apartment. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital, police said.
Of the other two victims, one was shot and the other was physically assaulted. Both men remain in stable condition, police said.
Witnesses described the two gunmen as black and in their early 20s, according to the press release.
One suspect is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall, with short, shaved hair and weighing about 250 pounds. The other suspect is described as being approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds, Tempe Police Sgt. Steve Carbajal said.
The two suspects were last seen leaving in a blue 2001 to 2005 Chevrolet Suburban with dark tinted windows, according to the release.
Hayden Lane Apartments are located at the 1800 block of East Hayden Lane, south of the intersection of McClintock and University drives.
