The season may have ended in a similar, disappointing fashion, but numbers show the fans supported the Arizona State Sun Devils more than in years past.

ASU saw the largest average attendance increase in all of college football for the 2011 season.

According to Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal, the Sun Devils averaged 59,007 fans per game, just over 11,000 more than in 2010.

While this is certainly a good sign for the Sun Devils and their fans, the numbers were likely helped by a favorable home schedule that included games against Missouri, USC and UA.

The 59,007 fans per game ranked the Sun Devils fourth in the conference behind USC, Washington and Oregon.
