Man attempts to video record female student in Tempe campus bathroom

A man was seen attempting to video record a female student inside of a bathroom stall in the Schwada building on the Tempe campus Tuesday afternoon, according to a police report.

The woman told police that while she was inside of the stall, she noticed a pair of men’s brown and gray Vans shoes in the stall next to hers, according to the police report.

Shortly after, she looked up to see an iPhone peeping over the top of the stall and screamed. The man fled the bathroom after she began screaming, according to the report.

The woman also fled the bathroom and began chasing the man through the building and out the exit, police reported. She was unable to keep up with him when he began riding his Razor Scooter, but a University maintenance employee saw the distressed woman chasing after the man and decided to help, according to the report.

The employee was also unable to keep up with the man, who was last seen riding into F-Wing of the Physical Sciences building and going up the stairs, police reported.

The woman notified ASU Police shortly after the incident but officers were not able to locate the man in the surrounding area, according to the report.

The woman and the University employee described the man as a white male, possibly a student, between 17 and 19 years old, wearing glasses, a backpack and earphones, according to the report.

Video surveillance near the restroom inside of the Schwada building did not have coverage of that specific area and was unable to provide any assistance, police reported.

Police are still searching for the man, and the woman said she would aid in prosecution if any arrests are made, according to the report.
