Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
- A 21-year-old Tempe woman and a 22-year-old Tempe man were arrested Monday morning near the intersection of Stanley Place and Southern Avenue on suspicion of drug paraphernalia, dangerous drugs and marijuana possession, according to a police report.A Tempe Police officer conducted a routine stop and smelled burning marijuana from the woman’s vehicle, police reported. The woman told the officer there was nothing illegal in the vehicle, according to the report.
While a certified drug K-9 searched the vehicle, the woman said the marijuana and pipe were in the center console of know the vehicle, police reported.The woman also said she had a Colorado medical marijuana card, but she didn't if her card had expired and she didn't have the card with her, police reported.A black container with marijuana was found under a jacket on the front passenger floor along with a pipe with marijuana residue in it, police reported.
The man denied knowledge of the marijuana found in the car, but admitted to smoking earlier in the evening, police reported.
Upon searching the woman's purse, the officer found a small baggie containing methamphetamine inside of a pink case, according to the report.
The woman denied knowledge of the methamphetamine in her purse, said she never used the drug and stole the pink case from another girl at a bar, according to the report.
Both the woman and the man were arrested and transported to Tempe City Jail for booking, but were released pending drug charges, police reported.
- A 40-year-old Tempe man was arrested Monday morning near the intersection of Hardy Drive and Elliot Road on suspicion of aggravated driving under the influence, according to a police report.The man was involved in an accident near the intersection. He rear-ended another car, police reported.A Tempe Police officer could smell alcohol on the man during the investigation of the accident, and the man said he drank the night before, according to the report. The man performed poorly on field sobriety tests, police reported.The man was arrested and transported to Tempe City Jail for booking and was held, according to the report.
