Tempe Police reported the following incidents Thursday:
- A 44-year-old Gilbert man was arrested Tuesday at the 900 block of East University Drive on suspicion of aggravated assault, according to a police report.The man entered Sahara Hookah Lounge at 923 East University Drive and approached a staff member holding an open pocketknife in each hand, police reported.The man walked toward the staff member repeating, "I could kill you right now," according to the report.The staff member grabbed the man's wrists to prevent him from attacking, police reported.
The man walked out of the hookah lounge and went to a nearby pizza shop where he encountered a police officer, according to the report.
The police officer smelled alcohol on the man and noticed he was swaying on his feet and slurring his speech, police reported.
The incident in the hookah bar was filmed on a cell phone and shown to police, according to the report.
The man was arrested, transported and booked into Tempe City Jail and was held, police reported.
- A 19-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday on the 100 block of East 5th Street on suspicion of theft and trafficking stolen property, according to a police report.The woman was at a party on Sept. 3, 2011, where a laptop valued at $5,000 was stolen from a resident's bedroom, police reported.The woman pawned the laptop at Mo Money Pawn in Phoenix on Sept. 4, 2011 for $200, according to the report.A police officer spoke to the woman Tuesday, at which time she said she stole and pawned the laptop, police reported.
The woman said she knew it was wrong to steal and sell stolen property, according to the report.
The woman was arrested, transported and booked into Tempe City Jail and was held, police reported.
