Bravo to junior guard Trent Lockett’s return to the ASU basketball team. Lockett entered Thursday’s game averaging 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Lockett hadn’t played for the Sun Devils since he injured his ankle on Jan. 14 in a game against Oregon State. Without their leader, ASU went 1-5 and only averaged 52.2 points per game, after averaging 64 with him. This year has been very disappointing for the team, but regaining the presence of their leader has to be an encouraging sign for the Sun Devils.

Double Boo to more students failing to appear as representation of the ASU student body at Wednesday’s Occupy Tempe/ASU rally. The focus of the small gathering was HB 2675 — the bill that would require ASU, NAU and UA students to pay a mandatory $2,000 of their tuition out-of-pocket beginning in fall 2012. The ratio of activists to students showed a favor to activists, which is disheartening because this has potential to affect thousands of students. During the event, representatives from ASU's Memorial Union Meetings and Events Services brought some negative vibes when they informed the group that they could not return to Hayden Lawn next week unless they received sponsorship from a student organization or department.

Bravo to ASU making another Top 10 list, although this one comes with a disclaimer: This was almost a Boo because the ranking appeared on Collegemagazine.com’s  “Top 10 Schools For Bros.” The guys here at ASU are brotoriously obnoxious. They’re a uniquely misunderstood - but ultimately destructive - Red Bull-fueled class within the backwards-hat donning species. Tempe apartment complexes, ye be warned. With the changes occurring on Alpha Drive (frat row), bro-sightings across town have doubled. Upside: UA ranked No. 1 on the list. Suns out, guns out, bro.

Boo to Arizona House Bill 2211, which would require bike riders over the age of 16 to treat stop signs as yield signs. Cyclists are safer when they follow the same rules as the vehicles on the road. Ride with traffic, have reflectors, signal turns and stay safe. Many cyclists at ASU already fly through stop signs, even when a car is present. Cyclists don’t have the right of way all the time, and this bill would only perpetuate the idea that they do.

Bravo to Steve Nash for being chosen to play on the NBA All-Star team for the eighth time in his career. This is Nash’s sixth appearance as a member of the Phoenix Suns, tying Walter Davis’ record. Nash is also one of only four players in NBA history to be named to the squad age 38 or older. The All-Star Game will take place in Orlando, Fla., at the Amway Center. Also, bravo to Suns rookie forward Markieff Morris for being selected to participate in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, an event that showcases the best young talent the league has to offer.
