Police Beat: Feb. 6


Tempe Police reported the following incidents Friday:

 

  • A 55-year-old transient man was arrested Thursday in a parking lot at the 20 block of W. Fifth Street on suspicion of alcohol consumption in public, and marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.A Tempe Police officer saw the man drinking from a 32-ounce can of Milwaukee’s Best beer in the parking lot, police reported.The man was extremely belligerent as the officer began questioning him, and slurred his speech while using obscenities before he was arrested, according to the report.

    The officer searched the man and found a glass pipe in the man’s back pocket as well as two small Ziploc bags containing marijuana, police reported.

    The man said he paid $20 for the marijuana and it was his, police reported.

    The man was booked into Tempe City Jail, held for the liquor charge and released pending the drug charges, according to the report.

  • A 21-year-old Mesa woman was arrested Tuesday at the 1000 block of E. Apache Boulevard on suspicion of marijuana, dangerous drug and drug paraphernalia possession, according to the police report.Tempe Police pulled the woman over after she was believed to be involved in a fight that occurred earlier in the night at Carniceria El Paisano grocery store around the block, police reported.The officer ran a record check, which revealed the woman had an outstanding Tempe City Warrant for arrest, according to the report.

    The officer searched the woman’s purse and found a “roach” with marijuana and a grape cigarillo still in its original wrapping inside of a cigarette box, police reported.

    The officer also found two red pills later confirmed to be Diazepam (another form of Valium), which the woman said were hers without a prescription, according to the report.

    She also said she was saving the “roach” to smoke later and used the grape cigarillos to wrap her marijuana, police reported.

    The woman was arrested, booked into Tempe City Jail and released pending drug charges.
