Police Beat: March 12

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Friday:

  • A 25-year-old Apache Junction woman was arrested March 5 at the 1300 block of West Elliot Road on suspicion of forgery and possession of narcotic and dangerous drugs, according a police report.

The woman went to a Wal-Mart with a prescription bearing another woman’s name to receive oxycodone, police reported.

The original prescription was dropped off about three hours before, according to the report.

Tempe Police were called to the scene and searched the woman’s purse, police reported.

Police found two prescription bottles, but only one of them had the woman’s name, police reported.

The woman told police she got the oxycodone with a forged prescription at an earlier date, according to the report.

She said the alprazolam was prescribed to her, but she did not have the prescription on her, police reported.

She also told police the name on the oxycodone prescription is not a real person, and her boyfriend has been forcing her to pick up the prescription pills, according to the report.

The woman was arrested, transported to Tempe City Jail for booking, held to see a judge and later released pending drug charges, police reported.

  • A 19-year-old Tempe man was arrested on March 5 at the 800 block of East Southern Avenue on suspicion of burglarizing a vehicle, according to a police report.

On the evening of March 4, the man and an unknown accomplice broke into a car in a Wal-Mart parking lot, taking $260 in cash and an iPhone 4, police reported.

After reviewing surveillance footage, a Wal-Mart employee told Tempe Police he often saw the man enter the store, according to the report.

While police were still in the Wal-Mart a few hours later, the man came back wearing the same clothes he wore from the video ?? a red T-shirt over a grey long-sleeved shirt, police reported.

The police detained him, according to the report.

The man told police he didn’t take anything, but intended to sell whatever items he found in the car, police reported.

The man didn’t give his friend’s name to police and was transported to Tempe City Jail for booking and was held, according to the report.
