Police Beat: April 10


  • A 19-year-old Scottsdale woman was arrested Thursday at the 1800 block of East Rio Salado Parkway on suspicion of shoplifting, drug paraphernalia and dangerous drug possession, according to a police report.The woman allegedly took more than $230 worth of merchandise from a Target store and placed them in her backpack, according to the report.Tempe Police were called to the store and detained the woman, police reported.During a search of the backpack, police found the merchandise along with pipes, a straw and methamphetamine, according to the report.

    Police also found knives in the backpack, and the woman said all of the items belonged to her, police reported.

    The woman was arrested, transported to Tempe City Jail, booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
