Police Beat: April 19

ASU Police reported the following incident Wednesday:

An 18-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning on the 1400 block of South Rural Road on suspicion of assault and consuming alcohol as a minor, according to a police report.

ASU Police were called to the third floor of the apartment complex because a fight broke out between the 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, police reported.

When police arrived, the man was standing in the hallway without a shirt and shoes and had a bloody nose and mouth, according to the report.

A picture of male genitalia and the words “F—k me” had been drawn on the man’s stomach, police reported.

Police told the man to stay seated while they spoke with the woman and the Tempe Fire Department treated his injuries, according to the report.

When the woman told the officer the man punched her in the face, the man got up and started to run, police reported.

The officer quickly caught the man, police reported.

The man was uncooperative after being placed in handcuffs and the officer who was speaking with him could smell alcohol on the man’s breath, according to the report. The woman told police the man was passed out on the couch during a party, but no one in attendance knew who he was, according to the report.

When she woke up the man to ask who he was, he sat up and punched her a couple of times, police reported.

Witnesses told police the woman started to fight back and other men in the room tried to separate the two, police reported.

The man continued to throw punches after partygoers removed him from the apartment, according to the report.

One man pinned the man down on the floor until community assistants arrived and used a Taser on the man, police reported.

The man was arrested and transported to Tempe St. Luke’s hospital to be treated for his injuries, according to the report.
