Letter: Kicking Chick-fil-A off campus is fowl play

In response to Ray Ceo Jr.’s letter to the editor on Aug. 27, 2012:

As an ASU student, I would like to respond to yesterday’s letter written by Mr. Ceo. Does kicking a business off our campus simply because some of us do not agree with its CEO's beliefs constitute as “embrac(ing) all of those in our communities”? I think not. Rather, it sends a message to students that we are, in fact, not free to have our own beliefs.

Furthermore, if we decide that we can kick out a business based on this reasoning, why should we stop with businesses? Should we have students and faculty fill out a questionnaire asking them for their opinions on topics such as gay marriage? Also, kick out the ones whom we find do not agree with some of us?

Banishing businesses from our campus because some of us do not agree with them is not an example of fairness or equality. I hope to see Chick-fil-A on the menu for many years to come.
