Student season ticketholders have exchanged long lines for the click of a button this football season.
The Sun Devil Coalition, made up of the Residence Hall Association, the Programming and Activities Board and the Student Alumni Association, advocated for a new ticketing system that allows students to reserve tickets online, said Julie Kipper, associate director of the Sun Devil Fitness Complex.
Last year, the tickets were first come, first serve, however students had to wait in line on game day to get a wristband, and then wait in another line to get into the stadium.
The new system is a way to enhance the game day experience, Kipper said.
Students who hold season tickets can now go to www.asustudenttickets.com between Monday at 8 a.m. and Wednesday at 5 p.m. to reserve tickets for the upcoming home football game.
E-vouchers are generated once students reserve their seats.
Students can then print their e-voucher and exchange it for a wristband closer to game time.
Students at the Tempe campus can exchange their e-vouchers for a wristband on game day at Wells Fargo Arena starting at 9 a.m.
Business communications sophomore Mike Artenian said he likes the new ticketing process.
“It’s definitely an improvement because last year was really chaotic,” he said,
Artenian said he and his friends came early to get tickets last year, but a lot of people just cut in line.
Artenian, who reserved his tickets Monday and was put in section 32, said this year is a lot more controlled.
Artenian said he was happy with his seats and being able to avoid an entire line on game day.
Students at the Downtown, Polytechnic and West campuses can exchange their e-vouchers on their own campuses for a wristband the day before game day.
Journalism freshman Macky Brazina came to Thursday’s game from the Downtown campus.
Brazina said she reserved her ticket on Monday afternoon and picked up her wristband downtown Wednesday.
“It was all really easy,” she said.
Associate Athletic Director Bill Kennedy said about 5,000 students took advantage of the e-vouchers for the NAU game Thursday.
If students do not reserve a ticket online ahead of time, they can bring their Sun Cards to the Wells Fargo Arena on game day and receive the next-best wristband available, Kipper said.
Students without season tickets are to go to the Wells Fargo Arena on game day starting at 9 a.m. to exchange their single game ticket for a wristband.
