ASU Police reported the following incidents Friday.
- A 19-year-old male student was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the ASU bookstore on the 500 block of Orange Street on suspicion of shoplifting, according to an ASU police report.
An officer approached the student and the student’s friend as they were leaving the bookstore and asked if they had a receipt for a textbook, according to the report.
Before leaving the store, the student gave the book to his friend to hold without telling him it was stolen, police reported.
The student told police he did not have a receipt and the book was stolen, according to the report.
The textbook was worth more than $200, police reported.
The student was issued a citation and released, according to the report.
- A 29-year-old Arizona man is under investigation for damaging property in the parking structure on the 1100 block of Rural Road Wednesday morning, according to an ASU police report.
A woman witnessed a black SUV following her car as she entered the parking structure, according to the report.
The woman said the man made an offensive comment to her after parking close to the woman’s car, police reported.
The woman returned to her car in the afternoon and found a scratch mark along the driver’s side below the window, according to the report.
The damage amounted to more than $300, police reported.
When questioned by officers, the man denied damaging the car and suggested reviewing video surveillance to clear his name, according to the report.
The incident is still under investigation, police reported.
