- A 45-year-old Tempe man was arrested the evening of Aug. 14 on the 1700 block of East 8th Street on suspicion of theft and assault, according to a police report.
A woman witnessed the man taking two bottles of Jim Beam from her apartment landing, according to the report.
She told him the bottles belong to her, police reported.
The man knocked the woman back with his shoulder but she followed him down the stairs, according to the report.
The woman was able to take back her bottles and another witness attested to the woman’s story, police reported.
The man told police he was there to see a friend and it wasn’t “a big deal” to take the whiskey, according to the report.
Police found a black sunglasses case with marijuana in his shorts pocket, police reported.
"It’s just a little weed,” the man told police, according to the report.
He was then transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked and held to see a judge for pending theft and assault charges, police reported.
- A 29-year-old Mesa man was arrested early the morning of Aug. 11 on the 1300 block of East University Drive on suspicion of aggravated driving under the influence, according to a police report.
The man failed a field sobriety test and was arrested, police reported.
Records show the man was arrested in 2007 on suspicion of DUI and was driving with a suspended license, police said.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
