'Snowpocalypse' makes landfall just before finals

“Snowpocalypse” helped students relax Tuesday night just before finals week with snowball fights, hot chocolate and prizes at Palo Verde Beach as provided by the Residence Hall Association.

Students from all over campus came out to the event to take advantage of the opportunity to have some fun before the stress of finals week that begins December 13, sets in.

Grecia Rojo, RHA director of programming, was very happy with the success of the event.

“It was actually bigger than I expected it to be there are a lot people running for the t-shirts, making crafts and playing in the snowball fight,” Rojo said.  “This event was kind of like and end of the year celebration to celebrate the accomplishments of everyone during the semester and relax before finals.”

Live Nation’s Street Team and DJ provided music as well as giveaways.

“It was really just to have people de-stress because before finals because they can be really crazy so we wanted to put on a really fun event for everyone here on campus,” RHA spokesman Tylor Hawkins said.

ASU freshman Sabrina Dahlmann stopped by the event after walking past the snow. She said events to help students de-stress during the time leading up to finals should be abundant.

She was planning to make Christmas ornaments and hadn’t found the time yet, so the event provided her the tools and opportunity to take a break and make something fun and useful.

All the students that stopped by the event were able to enjoy a fun night with their friends and take a break before the busiest time of the school year thanks to the efforts of RHA.
