ASU Police reported the following incidents Monday:
- Police are investigating incidents of criminal damage, criminal trespassing, attempted theft and attempted burglary that happened March 9 on the 7000 block of East Utah Avenue, according to a police report.An officer noticed an open window at the Physical Activity Center building during his normal patrol, according to the report.
After walking the perimeter of the building, the officer called in additional units from the Mesa Police Department, police reported.
He walked to the nearby pool while waiting for the additional officers and observed an open door at the lifeguard’s office, according to the report.
The office showed no signs of forced entry or missing items, and the officer was later informed that wind could have blown open the door, police reported.
The officer searched the building with Mesa Police officers and didn't find anyone, according to the report.
Nothing was missing either, despite the building having televisions, computers and stereos inside, according to the report.
However, a tampon machine in the women’s bathroom had been pried open, police reported.
The officer was able to take usable fingerprints from the window, but none from the tampon machine, according to the report.
Ownership of the PAC has been transferred to the ASU Preparatory Academy since the construction of the new Polytechnic Sun Devil Fitness Complex, police reported.
A representative from the ASU Preparatory Academy was unable to be reached at the time of the report, according to the report.
- An 18-year-old man, a 27-year-old man and a 28-year-old man were reported to the police on March 7 on suspicion of selling stolen textbooks to the ASU bookstore on the 500 block of East Orange Street, according to a police report.One of the men had previously been flagged in the bookstore’s system because of the numerous times he has sold textbooks back to the store, according to the report.
This man tried to sell textbooks to the store on March 7, but he was refused because of the flag, police reported.
The two men who accompanied him were allowed to sell two textbooks each to the store, but they were then flagged in the system for their association with the other man, according to the report.
The case was closed because the store has no way to prove that books being sold were indeed stolen, police reported.
