Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
A 49-year-old Tempe man was arrested April 30 near 1500 Eighth Street and Una Avenue on suspicion of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.
Police were contacted by a witness, who described a man stealing a road bike with bolt cutters on the 1200 block of East Eighth St., according to police.
Less than two minutes after they received the call, police approached the suspect, who was in possession of 3-foot bolt cutters and a bicycle matching the witness’s description, according to the report.
Police could not locate the bicycle’s owner and could not confirm or deny whether it was stolen, but the man consented to a search and had marijuana and a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine in his backpack, according to a police report.
The man, who admitted that he is addicted to methamphetamine, was transported to Tempe City Jail and released pending the marijuana charge, according to the report.
A 23-year-old Phoenix man was arrested May 1 near the 1400 block of West McAllister Avenue on suspicion of theft, possession of stolen property and dangerous drug possession, according to a police report.
The man was contacted by police while sleeping in a Buick LeSabre, according to the report.
The vehicle, which was listed as stolen out of Scottsdale, also had stolen license plates, according to police.
A search revealed that the man was in possession of methamphetamine, which he was hiding in a package of cigarettes in his backpack, according to the report.
The man told police that the methamphetamine was his and said he had no knowledge that the vehicle or license plates were stolen, police said.
The man also said he borrowed the car from his friend “Wolf,” according to the report.
He was booked into Tempe City Jail, according to police.
