ASU football overcame an early Washington touchdown to overwhelm the Huskies and take a 29-7 lead into halftime.

The Sun Devils received first, but were unable to muster anything, going three and out after a second-down catch by redshirt sophomore receiver Jaelen Strong was overturned.

The Huskies took advantage, driving 11 plays for a touchdown capped off by a one-yard run from junior running back Bishop Sankey.

The Sun Devils were unsuccessful on their next drive, going three-and-out for the second consecutive drive.

Washington wasn't able to extend the lead, though, going three-and-out on their next possession.

Freshman kicker Zane Gonzalez got the Sun Devils on the board on their next drive, connecting on a 26-yard field goal. Senior receiver Kevin Ozier almost brought down a third-down pass from redshirt junior quarterback Taylor Kelly, but Huskies senior safety Sean Parker did a nice job to break it up. The two teams shared three-and-outs on the next three drives, but the Sun Devils broke through on their first drive of the second quarter to take their first lead of the game. Senior Marion Grice finished off the four play, 57 yard drive with a 15-yard acrobatic one-handed catch to give the Sun Devils a 9-7 lead (extra point was blocked).

The catch was initially ruled incomplete on the field, but was overturned upon further review.

The Huskies again couldn't respond, punting for the fourth consecutive time.

Gonzalez extended the Sun Devils lead to 12-7 on a 22-yard field goal after the Sun Devils couldn't convert a red-zone touchdown for the second time in the first half.

Again, the Huskies and redshirt senior Keith Price couldn't get the offense moving, going three-and-out for the fourth time in five drives.

The Sun Devils couldn't capitalize, but caught a break when junior receiver Kasen Williams muffed a punt inside his own 30-yard line.

Gonzalez kicked his third field goal of the half, this one from 36 yards, to extend the Sun Devils lead to 15-7.

The Huskies' offense continued its futility, going three-and-out for the fifth time in the half.

This time, the Sun Devils took advantage, going 50 yards for a touchdown finished off by a one-yard run from Kelly to extend the lead to 22-7 with 2:08 remaining in the half.

Washington went three-and-out for the sixth time in the half on their next possession.

The Sun Devils offense kept rolling and Kelly connected with senior tight end Chris Coyle for a 14-yard touchdown with under a minute to go in the half to give them the 29-7 halftime advantage.
