ASU started out strong, but faltered offensively for most of the first half, trailing Utah 9-7 at halftime.

The Sun Devils elected to receive the first half kickoff and drove 70 yards, capped by redshirt junior quarterback Taylor Kelly's sixth rushing touchdown of the season, to grab a 7-0 lead.

The Sun Devils took that momentum to the defensive side, forcing the Utes into three consecutive negative plays on their first drive.

An intentional grounding penalty cost the Sun Devils on their next drive and the Utes capitalized.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Travis Wilson led the Utes on a 15-play drive and finished it with an eight-yard touchdown pass to junior receiver Dres Anderson to make it 7-6.

The Utes were unsuccessful on the two-point try, but took the lead two drives later when sophomore kicker Andy Phillips hit a career-long 51-yard field goal to make it 9-7. The Sun Devils finished with just 93 total yards at halftime and turned the ball over once thanks to a fumble from redshirt junior running back Deantre Lewis.
